In Josh Hall’s 2 Part video, he delves into the first half by explaining to his audience the importance of our minds. Of course, this sounds “elementary” as he stated. But, understanding the importance of nurturing our brains not only has physical and mental benefits — it also transforms how we excel in our daily work lives.
Hall first explains the significance of “feeding our brains”, and that instead of finding time tot do this, we must create it. Reading, he expresses, is one of the most efficient ways we can do this. One of the books Hall recommends is “It Doesn’t Have to Be Crazy At Work”. The title speaks for itself: as humans we think we constantly have to be busy, always adding more to our plates, and falling into the “busy trap”. This is not something that will allow us to succeed, rather it hinders us from working to our fullest potential.
Our speaker also encourages viewers to build and calm our minds. Hall states that just liek our bodies, our brains are muscles that need to be worked out. We must keep our brains healthy. What we put into them correlates to how we express ourselves through our work physically. Calming the mind has the same effect as well. Josh states that the minute we wake up and think about our disdain for the day ahead of us, we need to take a step back and reevaluate what it is we’re doing negatively. Anxiousness is the killer of productivity and achieving our goals.
Lastly, Hall explains that we need to protect our minds. A wonderful way of doing this is saying no to opportunities that will not benefit us, or that won’t make the best use of our skills and time.
Mental health is incredibly important. It is the basis of our everyday lives, and with good mental health and understanding our individual limits, we can not only be successful in our personal lives but in our work spaces as well.
